SeatGeek Canada has been hit with two additional fines by the Ontario government for allegedly violating a recent law that limits the resale of event tickets to their face value. The province’s consumer protection website indicates that the new fines imposed on the ticket resale platform this month amount to a total of $22,500 combined.
According to the website, the initial fine of $15,000 was issued for purportedly listing a ticket for sale or facilitating its sale at a price exceeding the resale price cap. The second penalty, totaling $7,500, was imposed for allegedly not disclosing the complete ticket price when a ticket was purchased from an original seller.
Neither the province nor SeatGeek Canada has provided immediate responses regarding the specific events linked to the fines or whether the company intends to contest the penalties. In August, the province had already fined the company $25,000 for comparable violations.
