Tiger Woods has accepted a no contest plea for reckless driving in Florida after initially pleading not guilty to a DUI charge. The golf icon’s legal troubles arose following an incident where his SUV collided with a truck and overturned on a residential road in Jupiter Island. Authorities discovered two pain pills in his possession and observed signs of impairment, though a Breathalyzer test yielded negative results while he declined a urine test.
Appearing at a Martin County courthouse alongside his girlfriend, Vanessa Trump, Woods, aged 50, remained mostly silent during the proceedings. Fortunately, neither Woods nor the other party involved sustained injuries in the crash, although his Land Rover caused $5,000 in damages to the truck, as per police reports. Woods attributed the accident to distractions like checking his phone and adjusting the radio while behind the wheel.
Despite being a prominent figure in golf, Woods has faced setbacks due to various health issues, including multiple surgeries on his back and knees, as well as struggles with pain medication. This incident marks the fourth crash Woods has been involved in, prompting him to take breaks from competitive golf in the past. As of now, he has yet to make a return to tournament play.
