Strictly Come Dancing champion Chris McCausland is set to appear as a guest on the popular comedy quiz show QI when it premieres its new season, Series W, on BBC Two in October. The show, known for posing quirky questions in a humorous manner to elicit incorrect responses from guests, will see Sandi Toksvig returning as the host, succeeding Sir Stephen Fry since 2016. Comedian Alan Davies will also be back as the show’s permanent guest, alongside a lineup of comedians such as Jimmy Carr, Aisling Bea, Rosie Jones, Nish Kumar, Jo Brand, and Julian Clary making guest appearances in individual episodes.
Chris has previously made an appearance on QI in a Series S episode titled Smörgåsbord, alongside Jen Brister and Jimmy Carr. Having been a part of various comedy panel shows like Would I Lie To You?, Have I Got News For You, and 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Chris is no stranger to the comedy circuit.
Piers Fletcher, the series producer of QI, expressed excitement about the upcoming Series W, stating, “We had a great time filming the W Series of QI. After 23 years of blending wisdom, wit, and whimsy, we’ve really hit our stride. Watch it, and you’ll thank me later.”
The new season will include 14 extended QI XL episodes lasting 45 minutes each, along with two 30-minute special episodes. The show will also be available on iPlayer in October, with the exact release date yet to be announced.
QI, which premiered in 2003, challenges celebrity contestants like Chris with misleading questions designed to lead them to an “obvious but wrong” answer, resulting in a penalty. Sandi, aged 67, has hosted the show for nine years and is also working on a new show called Sandi Toksvig’s Hidden Wonders, where she explores undiscovered archaeological treasures.
In addition, Dianne Buswell, who won Strictly Come Dancing with Chris last year, will be featured in the upcoming season of QI starting on September 20. Dianne, who recently announced her pregnancy, first met her partner Joe Sugg at a dance competition in 2018.
