Royal Residence Detour Irks Christmas Tree Shoppers

Published on

Residents shopping for Christmas trees are expressing frustration over a detour implemented around Prince William and Princess Kate’s new residence, causing them to take a longer route. Access roads near the royal couple’s eight-bedroom home at Forest Lodge in Windsor have been restricted to prevent direct traffic in front of the property, where they recently moved in with their children.

As a result, visitors heading to the annual Christmas Tree Shop at Windsor Great Park now have to follow a new circular route, adding over a mile to their journey. Locals have observed security measures in place, with reports of plain-clothes officers stationed to deter unauthorized access to the lodge’s grounds.

Drivers have encountered challenges navigating the altered route, with some incidents of vehicles veering off course. Kensington Palace has been contacted for a response regarding the situation.

In other news, the Mirror has launched a Christmas Appeal for a charity that provides life-changing assistive technology for seriously ill and disabled children to enhance their play experiences. The campaign highlighted a heartwarming encounter between a young boy named Felix Forbes and the Princess of Wales during her visit to Tŷ Hafan Children’s Hospice in South Wales earlier this year.

Felix, who battles a rare neurological condition called Miller-Dieker Syndrome, and his family have benefited from Lifelites, a technology that facilitates communication and enjoyment for children with life-limiting conditions. Lifelites empowers these children to engage in play, creativity, and communication through specialized sensory technology.
