Darts star Matt Clark recently shared a harrowing experience of being advised to ‘rest or face death’ after being hospitalized due to a severe blood clot. The 57-year-old player, known for his time on the PDC Tour, had to step away from the World Seniors Tour upon receiving a dire warning from doctors about the critical nature of his condition.

Having held a PDC Tour Card for several years, including a notable run to the last 32 in the 2006 World Championships, Clark’s career trajectory shifted after losing his Tour Card, leading him to transition to the WDF circuit.

Reflecting on the life-threatening health scare, Clark recounted, “During the seniors tour, I encountered a life-threatening blood clot in a precarious location.” He emphasized the gravity of the situation when doctors cautioned him that any movement could be fatal.

Detailing his struggles during a podcast appearance, Clark mentioned, “I was undergoing hospital treatments during the TV events I qualified for on the seniors tour.” Despite facing health challenges, he chose to keep his condition private and continued to compete, dealing with ongoing health issues and restrictions on travel.

Despite the setbacks, Clark has made a remarkable comeback, earning the No. 7 seed at the WDF World Championship and gearing up to compete against Francois Schweyen. Notable highlights from Clark’s career include winning the 1999 Canadian Open and making it to the quarter-finals of the 2008 World Matchplay.
