Police rushed to the Tower of London early this morning following reports of damage to a display case housing the crown jewels. According to a protest group, the display case was targeted with crumble and custard. Four individuals have been apprehended in connection with the incident, occurring before 10 a.m. The Tower of London is currently closed as authorities conduct an investigation.
The Metropolitan Police released a statement confirming the arrest of four individuals for causing criminal damage to the State Crown display case. Allegedly, four protesters threw food at the case before two of them departed the scene.
In an official statement, the Metropolitan Police stated, “Four protestors have been detained for criminal damage at the Tower of London. Law enforcement responded to a call at 09:48hrs on Saturday, 6 December, regarding criminal damage to the State Crown display case.”
The group Take Back Power Back, self-identifying as a “non-violent civil-resistance group,” asserted that they “covered the crown jewels with dessert.” They shared an image showing two individuals holding a flag with the message: “Democracy has crumbled – tax the rich.”
