An 87-year-old woman has tragically passed away in a serious collision that resulted in three others being rushed to the hospital with severe injuries.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:55 pm on Friday on the A706 near Carriber Mill, close to Linlithgow, in Scotland. The crash involved a red Honda Civic and a silver Volkswagen T-Roc. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, where the elderly woman, a passenger in the Volkswagen, was pronounced dead.
A 21-year-old man, who was driving the Honda, the 64-year-old male driver of the Volkswagen, and a 63-year-old female passenger in the Volkswagen, sustained serious injuries and were promptly transported to the hospital.
Following the collision, the road was closed for eight hours to facilitate investigations before reopening around 2 am on Saturday as per the Daily Record.
Sergeant Barry Sommerville urged witnesses or individuals with potential dashcam footage of the incident to come forward. Specifically, the police are seeking information from the driver of a Range Rover that was in the vicinity at the time of the crash.
Sgt Sommerville expressed condolences to the deceased woman’s loved ones and emphasized that the investigation into the incident is ongoing. He appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has relevant information to contact the authorities. Additionally, individuals with dashcam recordings are encouraged to review the footage for any pertinent details that could aid in the inquiry.
In a separate incident, a woman had to be extricated from a vehicle before being rushed to the hospital following a serious collision on Thursday. The emergency services responded to a significant traffic collision in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, at the intersection of Bolton Road and Eskdale Avenue at around 8:30 pm. Two cars were involved in the accident, with one woman requiring extraction and hospitalization. Four other individuals sustained injuries and received on-site medical attention.
