According to Joshua’s lawyer, the driver has pleaded not guilty and claims the accident was due to brake failure. The journey began in Lagos, where Joshua initially sat in the front seat but later switched with another passenger for better visibility. The driver, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, has been charged with multiple offenses including reckless driving and driving without a valid license.

Joshua, a Nigerian-born boxer, was on vacation in Nigeria following a recent victory in Miami. His friends, who tragically lost their lives in the accident, were long-time associates and part of his inner circle. Prominent figures in the boxing world, including Eddie Hearn and other champions, have expressed condolences for the loss.
