Luke Littler stands to recoup part of his £1 million prize from winning the PDC World Darts Championship. The 18-year-old made history by clinching back-to-back world titles, a feat not achieved since Gary Anderson. Littler’s latest triumph came against Gian van Veen at Alexandra Palace. Dominating the final with a commanding 7-1 victory, Littler extended his remarkable streak of reaching the championship final for three consecutive years.
The substantial prize money, a significant increase of £500,000 compared to the previous year, will be subject to UK tax laws. Due to this, Littler is expected to lose nearly half of his winnings to income tax at a rate of 45%, resulting in a potential tax bill of up to £450,000. Additionally, National Insurance contributions will further reduce his earnings, leading to an estimated total tax bill of around £470,000 following his second world championship win.
Despite the tax implications, Littler has a chance to boost his earnings at the upcoming Bahrain Darts Masters scheduled to begin on January 15. The talented player previously claimed victory in the 2024 event by defeating Michael van Gerwen, securing a £30,000 prize. Returning as a 10-time PDC major title winner, Littler is gearing up for a busy schedule ahead.
In an interview with talkSPORT, Littler outlined his plans for January, expressing his determination to win the title in Bahrain once more. If successful, he will have little time to rest before competing in the Saudi Arabia Darts Masters starting on January 19. Littler is eager to make his mark at the inaugural Saudi Arabian World Series and has plans to unwind with family in Dubai following the intense competition.
Looking ahead, the prize money for the 2026 World Series events is yet to be confirmed, offering Littler further opportunities to enhance his winnings. With ambitions to surpass Phil Taylor’s record of 16 world titles, Littler aims to dominate the sport, emphasizing his desire to excel and conquer all challenges in his path.
