Originally set to kick off the show alongside ITV on Monday ahead of the season premiere on Sunday, Maya’s absence was attributed to her sudden illness, as confirmed by her representative to The Sun.

In an Instagram story posted on Monday night, Maya, who is romantically involved with Man City footballer Reuben Dias, shared her journey to South Africa, expressing hopes that the warm weather and Vitamin C intake would help combat her illness. Despite missing the launch event, ITV executives praised Maya, citing her as the ideal host for Love Island due to her cool, fun, and energetic persona that resonates well with the audience.

Excited for the upcoming season, Maya previously shared her anticipation on Instagram, showcasing her enthusiasm for the upcoming adventure in South Africa. Love Island: All Stars, the third season featuring 12 returning islanders, promises to deliver intense drama in the renowned villa.
