A heartless individual who pretended to be a traffic lawyer on social media has been sentenced to prison for causing the death of an elderly woman in a tragic car accident.

Leigh Sutherland was driving over the speed limit in an old Ford Mondeo with faulty brakes when he collided with a Peugeot 108 driven by Margaret Allan on the Condorrat Ring Road in Lanarkshire, Scotland. The impact of the crash resulted in serious injuries to Margaret and another passenger, with Margaret succumbing to her injuries after being taken to the hospital.

Despite his reckless actions, Sutherland tried to shift blame onto the elderly woman at the scene, making derogatory remarks. Following a trial at the High Court in Glasgow, he was convicted of causing death by dangerous driving and subsequently sentenced to nine years in prison, along with a driving ban of over 13 years.

Prior to the incident, Sutherland was known for his online presence on TikTok, where he falsely claimed to be a defense lawyer and posted peculiar videos portraying various roles, including that of a police officer and food reviewer.

After the crash, witnesses reported seeing Margaret with head injuries and in a confused state, while a child was also present in the car. Sutherland attempted to leave the scene but was apprehended by PC Meldrum, during which he made disrespectful remarks towards the officer. Unfortunately, Margaret’s condition worsened, leading to her passing away weeks later.

Further investigation into the collision revealed that the Ford Mondeo involved had a malfunctioning anti-lock braking system and an unsecured battery, contributing to the severity of the accident.
