Bradley Walsh recently disclosed a surprising revelation about his long-standing involvement with The Chase, a popular quiz show he has been hosting since its inception in 2009. Alongside his son Barney, the two are well-known figures on television, frequently appearing together or separately on various programs.
During an interview with Radio Times magazine, Bradley admitted that he hasn’t watched his own show for quite some time due to his late studio wrap-up time of 5 o’clock. He mentioned that his son Barney, aged 28, likely doesn’t catch The Chase either, given his hectic filming schedule.
Despite his lack of viewership for The Chase, the 65-year-old shared his enthusiasm for BBC’s Casualty, where Barney has been portraying Cameron Mickelthwaite since 2023. Bradley expressed his admiration for the show’s recent cinematic enhancements.
In response to inquiries, Barney mentioned that due to their filming commitments ending around 7 pm, he seldom arrives home in time to watch The Chase. However, he expressed his fondness for the show whenever he has downtime and can tune in.
The father-son duo initially teamed up on-screen in 2019 for the ITV travel series called Bradley Walsh & Son: Breaking dad. The show has since seen five additional series, with the latest airing in 2025.
Reflecting on their collaboration, Barney shared that they have engaged in about 80 to 100 different activities over the years, creating numerous lasting memories. While considering the potential for more series, he noted that both he and his father are currently focused on individual endeavors but remain open to future collaborations.
Bradley affirmed his commitment to The Chase and its spin-off, Beat The Chasers, emphasizing his intention to continue as long as viewers remain engaged. He described his experience on the show as extraordinary and the best job in the industry.
Looking ahead, fans can anticipate the return of the father-son pair in the upcoming series of Gladiators, set to air on BBC One and iPlayer on January 17th at 5:45 pm.
Remember, Gladiators will be back on BBC One and iPlayer starting January 17th at 5:45 pm, and The Chase airs weekdays at 5 pm on ITV and ITVX.
