A man in Wales has been handed a ban from all pubs in the region due to his recent violent behavior. Julio Waters, accompanied by his father Wayne, attacked a bar staff member in Neath, causing severe injuries and significant dental expenses. This incident occurred after Julio was previously banned for headbutting a customer in the same pub.
During the court proceedings at Swansea Crown Court, it was revealed that Julio Waters, aged 39, has a history of violent incidents in pubs across Neath and Swansea and had previously been prohibited from entering any licensed premises in Neath Port Talbot.
The judge, while delivering the sentence for Julio’s latest assault, expressed concerns about the threat he poses to the safety of both pub staff and patrons. By banning him from all licensed venues in Wales, the judge hoped to prevent the issue from simply moving to England.
The court heard that the initial assault happened outside the Ambassador Hotel in Neath town center in August 2024. Julio Waters unexpectedly attacked a man from a group outside the bar, leaving him injured. The staff member who witnessed the assault called for medical assistance and was handed a phone by an associate of Waters, who instructed him to remove any potential CCTV evidence.
Further investigations led to Julio being identified as the assailant through footage from the Ambassador, resulting in his ban from the establishment. When questioned later, Julio chose not to provide any comments, leading to his release pending additional inquiries.
In another incident in May the previous year, Julio and his father confronted a security guard at the Ambassador after being informed of their ban. The altercation escalated into a physical assault on the doorman, with Julio delivering multiple punches to the victim before fleeing the scene with his father.
Both father and son refused to comment during police interviews and were subsequently charged. Julio, residing in Cadoxton, Neath, admitted to two counts of assault causing actual bodily harm (ABH) and was sentenced to 27 months in prison. He will serve at least half of the term before being released on license, along with a two-year exclusion order from all licensed premises in Wales.
Wayne Waters, residing in Bryncoch, Neath, admitted to ABH and received a 12-month suspended prison sentence. He was also instructed to undergo a rehabilitation course and pay compensation to a staff member at the Ambassador. The judge highlighted the importance of Wayne reflecting on his actions and setting a better example for his son to avoid further legal consequences.
