Following the discovery of a man’s body on its premises, a school has decided to close its doors to students.
Smestow Academy in Wolverhampton made the announcement of closure in response to a police incident earlier today. Emergency services, including two ambulances and a paramedic officer, were summoned to Windmill Crescent at approximately 10.40am, where the man was tragically found deceased.
Authorities are presently looking into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death and are in the process of confirming his identity, as reported by Birmingham Live. A statement on the school’s website stated: “School closure is prompted by an unrelated police incident commencing at 1pm today.”
A spokesperson from West Midlands Police mentioned, “We are currently present at Smestow Academy following the discovery of a body on the premises. Emergency services were contacted around 10.40am today, and the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.”
“Investigations are underway to confirm the man’s identity and the circumstances leading to his death. The school will be closed to students while inquiries are being conducted.”

According to a spokesperson from West Midlands Ambulance Service, “We received a call regarding a medical emergency in a field on Windmill Crescent, Castlecroft, Wolverhampton at 10.41am today. Two ambulances and a paramedic officer responded to the location where, unfortunately, one man was confirmed deceased.”
