Comedian and actor Russell Brand made a virtual appearance at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, facing two additional charges of sexual offenses, including rape. The alleged incidents involving two women reportedly occurred in 2009.

Earlier, Detective Chief Inspector Tariq Farooqi of the Metropolitan Police mentioned that the women making reports, including those related to the new accusations, are receiving support from specialized officers. The investigation by the Met is ongoing, and authorities are encouraging anyone impacted by the case or possessing relevant information to come forward.

Russell Brand, aged 50, is already defending against claims of sexual misconduct by four other women. In May 2025, he was accused of two rape counts, one indecent assault, and two sexual assault charges dating back to 1999-2005. Brand refuted the allegations during a court appearance at Southwark Crown Court last year and is scheduled for trial in June 2026.

During the recent court session, Brand, clad in a partially unbuttoned denim shirt, only confirmed his identity and birth date in the brief six-minute hearing. He was granted bail and is expected to appear at Southwark Crown Court on February 17 for further proceedings.

In a video shared on social media on December 23, around the time of the new charges, Brand expressed gratitude for the opportunity to address his past mistakes and seek transformation and growth. He emphasized the importance of truth and understanding in his current situation.
