A 75-year-old British tourist passed away following a swimming incident at El Duque beach in Costa Adeje, Tenerife. Lifeguards assisted the man after he was found in the water and emergency responders tried to revive him, but unfortunately, their efforts were unsuccessful. The man, who recently turned 75, was confirmed to be a British national.

El Duque beach, known for its strong currents and Blue Flag status, was the location of the tragedy. It remains unclear whether the man was alone or accompanied by others at the time of the incident. An autopsy scheduled in Santa Cruz will determine the cause of death, whether it was drowning-related or due to a medical issue.

According to a spokesperson from the emergency response coordination center, the man suffered cardiac arrest at El Duque beach despite rescue attempts. The incident was reported to the authorities by local police and the National Police force is conducting an investigation.

Tenerife has witnessed previous sea-related tragedies, including incidents in which individuals were swept away by waves during storms. Late last year, multiple fatalities and injuries occurred in separate incidents along the coastline.
