The mother of a teenage boy who was tragically killed was informed by authorities that her son’s attacker was found in possession of a machete shortly before the fatal incident. However, the man claimed the weapon was for fishing purposes when questioned by the police.

Nikki Knight’s son, Mason Rist, 15, along with his friend Max Dixon, 16, were fatally stabbed in what was described as a revenge attack after being mistakenly targeted for a previous offense. The two boys were ambushed by a group led by Anthony Snook, 45, as they were on their way to a pizza place in Bristol.

Nikki, aged 52, revealed that crucial information about the machete found in Snook’s car prior to the murders was not disclosed to her at the time. She believes that if action had been taken then, the tragic loss of her son and his friend could have been prevented.

Surveillance footage from Nikki’s residence captured the brutal attack, where the assailants armed with weapons including a machete, zombie knife, and baseball bat inflicted fatal injuries on Max and Mason before fleeing the scene. During the trial, Snook denied knowledge of the weapons and claimed innocence regarding their presence in his vehicle.

It later came to light that Snook had a machete-style knife confiscated just eight days before the fatal incident, citing his passion for fishing as the reason for carrying it. Despite this, no further action was taken against him for possession of the weapon.

Although the Crown Prosecution Service opted not to pursue the possession charge against Snook, who was subsequently sentenced to a minimum of 38 years for the double homicide, Nikki expressed disappointment in the handling of the case by the authorities. She criticized the lack of communication regarding the earlier incident and emphasized the need for accountability and justice for the victims.

Nikki vowed to seek legal recourse against the authorities involved, highlighting the systemic failures that, in her view, contributed to the tragic outcome. She underscored the importance of holding responsible parties to account to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
