A man under the influence of alcohol and exhibiting inappropriate behavior approached a stranger’s residence, lowered his pants, and demanded sexual activity before proceeding to break into a neighboring house and causing damage.

Hamda Salah, who was already under two suspended prison sentences for previous offenses, engaged in this alarming incident in a Newcastle neighborhood last June. Upon ringing a woman’s doorbell, Salah, visibly intoxicated and with his trousers down, made lewd advances towards the resident who promptly refused his advances and closed the door on him.

Salah confessed to attempting to trespass with the intent of committing a sexual offense, with prosecutors acknowledging that the intended offense was exposure rather than a more severe act. Subsequently, Salah burglarized a nearby property where he was confronted by the occupants, leading to a physical altercation and his eventual expulsion from the premises.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that Salah had caused significant damage to the property, including urinating on a bed, breaking picture frames, and stealing money. His identification as the perpetrator was facilitated by a blood spot left at the scene.

Having come to the UK in April 2023 as an asylum seeker, Salah had already received suspended sentences for prior offenses. However, the latest crimes led to a three-year imprisonment, a lifelong registration on the sex offenders list, a ten-year restraining order, and the continuation of a sexual harm prevention order.

In his defense, Salah expressed remorse and acknowledged the consequences of his actions, emphasizing a desire to move past this chapter in his life.
