Beauty Bay, an online cosmetics retailer, is facing potential collapse following the submission of a notice indicating the intention to appoint administrators. This action initiates a legal freeze preventing creditors from taking legal actions for a temporary period of ten days.
According to a report by Sky News, Beauty Bay filed the notice earlier this week, subsequently taking down its website with a message stating, “We’ll Be Back Soon. BEAUTY BAY is offline right now, we’ll be back shortly.” Established in 1999 by brothers Arron and David Gabbie in Manchester, Beauty Bay offers over 200 brands on its platform, including Ariana Grande, Clinique, MAC, and its own product line.
The company’s situation follows reports that it was exploring avenues to secure new funding, potentially involving a complete sale of the business. Interpath, an advisory firm, has been working with Beauty Bay on a business review. Currently employing 65 individuals, Beauty Bay has not yet provided a comment in response to inquiries from the Mirror.
In a related development, fashion retailer Quiz has recently entered administration, resulting in the loss of 109 jobs. The redundancies are affecting Quiz’s head office in Glasgow and warehouse in Lanarkshire. The Quiz website has been deactivated, and customers are informed that undelivered online orders will be canceled.
Regarding refunds, Quiz is advising customers to contact their bank or credit card provider for reimbursement. Customers who made purchases exceeding £100 via credit card may be eligible for refunds under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act. For debit card transactions or credit card purchases under £100, consumers may explore Chargeback within 120 days of the transaction.
Quiz has announced that stores will continue operations with clearance sales across all branches, excluding the acceptance of gift cards. With 40 stores nationwide and concessions in New Look and Matalan outlets, Quiz’s operations within these partner stores are unaffected by the administration process.
