Melanie Blatt recently disclosed feeling “ashamed” of her time with the popular group All Saints due to the challenging dynamics within the band. Reflecting on the past, she acknowledged the strained relationships among the band members, emphasizing that authenticity prevailed over monetary motivations for staying together.

The lineup of All Saints comprised Melanie, sisters Nicole and Natalie, and Shaznay Lewis. Despite initial success with two albums, internal conflicts led to the group’s disbandment in 2001, with Melanie admitting to mutual animosity among the members.

In a candid interview with Good Housekeeping UK, Melanie delved into the complexities of their band dynamics, highlighting the struggles of maintaining harmony within the group. She expressed regret over not fully appreciating their hit song “Pure Shores” at the time of its release, realizing its significance in their musical journey.

Melanie also recounted a pivotal moment during her time with the band when her pregnancy was met with disapproval from music industry executives. Despite pressure to terminate her pregnancy for the sake of the band’s success, she chose to keep the baby, while her bandmate Nicole did not proceed with her pregnancy. This decision strained their friendship, as they navigated the personal challenges amidst their professional commitments.

Reflecting on the past, Melanie acknowledged the discomfort she once felt about being associated with a pop band, a sentiment that has since evolved with time. The singer’s revelations shed light on the behind-the-scenes struggles faced by the band during their peak in the 90s.

Melanie’s experiences and reflections are featured in the documentary “GirlBands Forever,” where she opens up about the personal and professional hurdles she encountered during her time in All Saints. The full interview can be found in the April edition of Good Housekeeping UK.
