An expert recently stated that Nancy Guthrie likely passed away within the initial 72 hours of her disappearance. The 84-year-old individual vanished from her residence just north of Tucson, Arizona, on February 1. Authorities confirmed that journalist Savannah Guthrie’s mother was forcibly taken from her home, last seen on January 31 around 9:30 pm.
Michael Gould, a former Nassau County lieutenant and founder of the NYPD’s canine unit, has been involved in investigating the Nancy Guthrie case. Initially, he estimated a less than 10% chance of her survival. He has since reiterated his views, providing a rough estimate of the time frame within which she might have perished.
In an exclusive interview with The Mirror US, Michael indicated that the focus in Nancy Guthrie’s case is now more likely a recovery operation rather than a rescue mission. He expressed, “Sadly, my assessment is that Nancy likely died within the first 72 hours and will ultimately be recovered.” Michael emphasized that recovery does not offer closure but eliminates the uncertainty surrounding her whereabouts.
Michael suggested that Nancy is expected to be found in close proximity to her home, possibly within a few miles. Concerns have been raised about Nancy’s health, as she required daily medication for an undisclosed heart condition. Michael warned that not having her medication for over 24 hours could be fatal.
The family has put forth a reward of up to $1 million for any information leading to the discovery of Nancy. Michael indicated that this reward reflects the dwindling leads available to investigators and the family’s acknowledgment that Nancy may no longer be alive.
