Iranian state media has reported that over 60 students were killed in an attack on a girl’s elementary school. Local news sources revealed that a strike, believed to be Israeli, targeted a school in Minab County. The Governor of Minab confirmed the tragic incident, stating that 51 students lost their lives and 60 others were injured in the assault.
Following the initial reports, the health ministry spokesperson, Hossein Kermanpour, later updated the casualty figures, indicating that the death toll had risen to 60 children, with 80 more sustaining injuries. Additionally, an unknown number of children were trapped under the debris caused by the Israeli strikes.
Simultaneously, a series of strikes hit various locations in Iran, attributed to both U.S. and Israeli aircraft and missiles. Mojtaba Khaledi, spokesperson for Iran’s Red Crescent services, disclosed that 20 out of the country’s 31 provinces were impacted by the attacks. He emphasized the readiness of emergency response teams and urged the public to maintain a safe distance from affected areas to facilitate rescue operations.
The widespread nature of the strikes across more than 20 provinces indicated a broader impact than initially anticipated. The Red Crescent teams were actively engaged in providing assistance at the affected sites amidst the escalating crisis.
