Reports from the Express suggest that the cold weather is expected to impact the UK around midday on March 15. The Met Office’s extended forecast for March 6 to 15 indicates: “High pressure is likely to dominate during this period, particularly in the southern and southeastern regions of the UK.

“This suggests dry conditions for many areas with varying cloud cover and some sunshine. The sunniest conditions are anticipated in the south and southeast. There is a chance of overnight fog under clear skies and light winds.

“Nevertheless, frontal systems are expected to affect the northern and western parts of the UK intermittently, potentially moving eastward occasionally, bringing rain, strong winds, and possible hill snow in northern elevated areas. Temperatures are likely to be near or above average, with a possibility of isolated overnight frosts.”

The monthly forecast by Netweather.tv for March 9 to 15 suggests: “Winds are expected to predominantly originate from the south or southwest, maintaining above-average temperatures for this time of year. However, the period may see increased unsettled weather compared to the previous week, with low-pressure systems moving further eastward, bringing bands of rain across the country, interspersed with occasional showery weather.

“Eastern parts of the UK, especially Scotland, are likely to experience drier conditions than usual, with rain bands dissipating as they move northeastward, resulting in fewer showers between the rain events. Conversely, western regions, particularly in the southwest, are expected to see above-average rainfall.”

“Temperatures are anticipated to be 1 to 2C above average for most areas, except for western Scotland and Northern Ireland where closer-to-average temperatures are expected,
