Coleen Rooney Opens Up About Evolving Relationship

Published on

Coleen Rooney has acknowledged that her long-standing relationship with her husband Wayne has naturally evolved over the years, with its fair share of highs and lows. Known as childhood sweethearts since meeting as teenagers, Coleen and Wayne tied the knot in 2008 and are proud parents to four sons – Kai, 16, Klay, 12, Kit, 10, and Cass, 8.

Reflecting on their journey together spanning over two decades, Coleen mentioned to The Times that their relationship has adapted with age, the arrival of children, and changes in career paths. Despite life’s challenges, she emphasized that their deep connection from a young age has allowed them to weather any storms as a united team.

Having known each other since the age of 12 in Liverpool, Coleen and Wayne’s relationship blossomed early on, coinciding with Wayne’s notable achievement of becoming the youngest scorer in the Premier League for Everton just before his 17th birthday. Their shared experiences have led Coleen to recognize the differing opportunities her children will encounter compared to their upbringing as prominent figures in the public eye.

While Wayne pursues a lucrative BBC deal following some unsuccessful managerial roles, Coleen declined an offer to participate in Celebrity Traitors after her successful stint on I’m A Celebrity. Expressing her thoughts on the show, she admitted to enjoying watching The Traitors but questioned her ability to portray deceit convincingly on screen.

On a different note, Coleen recently engaged with King Charles during an event honoring the dedication of carers, a cause close to her heart due to her personal experience caring for her late sister, Rosie. Rosie, who battled Rett Syndrome, a rare brain disorder, passed away at the age of 14 in 2013, leaving a lasting impact on Coleen’s life.

Through her documentary, Coleen: The Real Wagatha Christie Story, released a decade after Rosie’s passing, Coleen fondly remembered her sister as a cherished addition to their family. She described Rosie as the sister she never expected to have and emphasized the love and joy she brought into their home.
