The mother of a student who went missing two years ago is calling for a new investigation into his disappearance, citing flaws in the initial search effort. Jack O’Sullivan, a 22-year-old history graduate, vanished in Bristol after leaving a party in the early hours of March 2, 2024. Despite extensive searches and CCTV footage showing his last known whereabouts near the Floating Harbour, Jack remains missing.

His family, dissatisfied with the Avon and Somerset police’s handling of the case, have enlisted private detectives to assist in the search. Catherine, Jack’s mother, expressed disappointment in the police’s investigative approach, highlighting missed leads and inadequate follow-ups.

Jack, a law conversion course student at BPP University Law School, had attempted to contact a friend before his disappearance and mentioned taking an Uber home. His phone, which was last tracked to an address on Granby Hill, has not been recovered.

Amidst a stagnant police investigation, the family has sought the expertise of former senior detectives to independently review the case. They have requested a transfer of the investigation to another police force due to concerns over the initial handling by Avon and Somerset Police.

Catherine criticized the police for prematurely assuming Jack had entered the water, insisting that further evidence indicates otherwise. She emphasized the need for a thorough and unbiased investigation to locate her son, expressing frustration over the lack of progress in the search efforts.

A fundraising campaign has been initiated to support specialized search operations, forensic analysis, and legal counsel in the ongoing quest to find Jack. Catherine remains hopeful for a breakthrough in the case, adamant about continuing her efforts to bring her son home.
