An explosion reportedly shook a popular tourist destination this evening in Larnaca, Cyprus, following an earlier drone attack on the RAF Akrotiri base on the island. The source of the explosion is currently unknown. This incident follows Iranian strikes in the Middle East in response to perceived aggression from the US and Israel, with no casualties reported.
As a result of the situation, multiple flights to and from Cyprus have been canceled. Additionally, three communities on the island were placed under “home confinement” due to concerns about potential attacks by Iran and its affiliated groups.
Numerous individuals have taken to social media to report hearing the explosion, with one person describing the event in Larnaca – Mackenzie near the civil airport. A total of 60 flights to and from Cypriot airports were canceled following the drone attack on the RAF base at Akrotiri.
Among the flight cancellations, 21 were inbound to Larnaca, 21 were outbound, and 18 were related to Paphos Airport. A map indicates that the explosion occurred near Larnaca in southern Cyprus.
Local sources informed Faytuks Network of a loud boom heard in Larnaca this evening, although the exact cause remains undetermined at this time.
