Unveiling Trump’s Controversial Comments on Women

Published on

President Donald Trump has a controversial history of making remarks about women, whether they are public figures, employees, journalists, or even his family members. As International Women’s Day approaches, let’s delve into some of Trump’s notable comments about women over the years, sourced from interviews, social media, and witness testimonies.

A recurring theme in Trump’s public statements about women is his tendency to link their physical appearance with their societal value. For instance, in 2012, he criticized Arianna Huffington, the founder of HuffPost, calling her “unattractive both inside and out” and suggesting he understood why her former husband left her for another man. Two years later, he expressed his belief that a woman’s appearance directly correlates with her professional abilities, stating that looks do matter in the workplace.

In 2015, Trump commented on Kim Kardashian’s physique, affirming that her posterior was indeed sizable. He has also directed derogatory remarks towards journalists, such as calling a New York Times reporter a “third-rate” and “ugly” journalist. Additionally, he has faced criticism from women who worked with him before his presidency. Barbara Res, a former construction executive at the Trump Organization, revealed that Trump emphasized the importance of physical appearance among his female employees.

Trump’s objectifying comments extend beyond professional contexts. In a 2005 conversation with Howard Stern, he boasted about his access to changing rooms at pageant events he owned, where contestants were partially unclothed. Furthermore, his past romantic interactions have come under scrutiny, notably a 2005 recording where he spoke about making advances on women without their consent.

Despite claims of being a “protector” of women, Trump’s track record includes controversial remarks and allegations of misconduct. In various instances, women have accused him of inappropriate behavior, with some formal allegations documented over the years. Trump’s responses to these allegations often involve denial and dismissal of the accusers’ credibility.

While not categorized as criminal offenses, Trump’s statements have been widely criticized as misogynistic. Despite this, he has portrayed himself as a champion for women’s interests, claiming to be their protector and savior. It remains a topic of debate as to whether his actions align with his public persona as a defender of women’s rights.
