James Haskell, former England rugby player, has provided an update on his personal life, mentioning that he consulted with his former wife Chloe Madeley before embarking on his latest TV project. The 40-year-old sportsman began a relationship with fitness expert Chloe, aged 38, in 2014.
After getting engaged in a romantic Paris proposal in 2018, the couple tied the knot. However, their marriage faced challenges, and five years later, after welcoming their daughter Bohdi, now three, they announced their split following the airing of their reality show At Home with the Madeleys.
Chloe has previously described their separation as tumultuous, acknowledging that there are periods of silence lasting weeks between them. Speaking to The Sun’s Fabulous magazine, she stated: “It’s been two years since we parted ways, and it has been a long journey. Our transition to co-parents and ex-spouses has been gradual.”
She further expressed, “The divorce process has been emotionally charged and volatile. Some weeks we get along perfectly, while in others, disagreements arise, leading to silence.”
Over two months after finalizing their divorce in December 2025, James is now set to feature on the upcoming season of Celebs Go Dating. On LNER’s Routes podcast, he shared that he has been on “five” dates, some of which went well, as reported by the Manchester Evening News.
Regarding his decision to join the show, James explained: “Participating in Celebs Go Dating was not something I had envisioned, but the timing seemed right. After my experience on ‘I’m A Celeb,’ where I was the first rugby player featured, and understood the impact of editing, I decided to try a new approach. My aim was not solely to find love but also to present a different side of myself. People often have strong opinions about me before they meet me, so I wanted to challenge those perceptions.”
He added, “I believe there is more to me than meets the eye. The show was an opportunity to have fun, meet new people, and be mindful that my daughter will watch it someday, so I was respectful towards my ex. We discussed it, and from the dates I’ve had, all individuals were delightful, with one potential for a future date.”
James also mentioned his comfort in solitude, describing himself as a “loner” who enjoys activities like listening to audiobooks, reading, or simply spending time alone upon waking up.
