Subsequent to the explosion, Wiltshire Police verified the death of a woman. The deceased, a woman in her 40s, has had her next of kin notified, with law enforcement choosing not to disclose her identity at this time.
A representative from Wiltshire Police stated: “We can confirm that a woman has tragically passed away following an incident at a Chippenham address this afternoon.
“In collaboration with the fire service and ambulance personnel, we responded to an address in Orchard Crescent at approximately 3.20 pm today following reports of an explosion.”
“Regrettably, a woman in her 40s lost her life at the scene. Her family has been notified, and our condolences are with them during this period. No suspicious circumstances are suspected in relation to the death.”
A spokesperson from Dorset & Wiltshire Fire Service added: “We were summoned to Orchard Crescent, Chippenham at 3.18 pm today (5 March) to assist the ambulance service and police at an incident. Two crews from Chippenham responded, and one remains at the scene.”
