Flights connecting Abu Dhabi and London via Heathrow are set to restart today with Etihad Airways. However, numerous flights to destinations like Israel, Bahrain, and the UAE have been canceled due to ongoing conflicts triggered by attacks from the US and Israel on Iran, resulting in a total of 7,766 canceled flights. Many individuals, including British citizens, are eagerly anticipating the resumption of airline operations in the conflict-affected region.
Etihad Airways has announced the resumption of a limited flight schedule starting from March 6, 2026, operating between Abu Dhabi and various key destinations. Passengers with existing bookings will be accommodated on these flights at the earliest convenience.
In light of the situation, the public is advised not to go to the airport unless they have received direct contact from Etihad or hold confirmed bookings for the new flights. The decision to resume flights has been made in coordination with authorities after thorough safety and security evaluations. Etihad will only resume operations once all safety requirements are met.
Amid the Middle East conflict, the Foreign Office has issued new guidance, impacting popular holiday destinations like Syria, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates. The FCDO’s constantly updated list includes countries like Thailand, Egypt, and the UAE. Flights to and from Dubai, part of the UAE, were suspended over the weekend, leaving British nationals stranded.
Keir Starmer has assured that the UK Government will aid in ensuring the safety of British citizens abroad. Nevertheless, the FCDO has identified 76 countries that Brits should avoid currently, some due to the regional conflicts. Out of 226 countries or territories with travel advisories, 76 are flagged as no-go zones.
The FCDO has issued an update urging British nationals to follow the latest travel advice. A recent government website update on March 5 introduced a link for British citizens in Lebanon to register with the UK government.
