A tragic incident occurred as a 12-year-old student, Jada West, passed away following a violent altercation at a bus stop with another pupil. The confrontation took place after Jada was forced off the school bus on March 5, leading to her sustaining brain injuries that ultimately led to her death in the hospital a few days later.

Footage circulated on social media captured the moment when the two girls engaged in a physical altercation, with Jada initially walking away but later collapsing and requiring immediate medical attention. Jada’s mother, Rashunda McLendon, expressed her grief over losing her only child and raised concerns about the presence of the other girl in the altercation, questioning why she was there since she was not a resident of the area and did not typically use that bus stop.

Rashunda highlighted that Jada had recently started attending Mason Creek Middle School and had been a target of bullying during her time there. Upon receiving news of the incident, Rashunda rushed to the bus stop to find her daughter lying motionless on the ground, requiring urgent medical care.

Following the incident, Jada was initially taken to Tanner Medical Center and later transferred to Children’s Hospital Scottish Rite, where she unfortunately passed away. Rashunda emphasized the need to instill values of love and compassion in children, reflecting on the tragic loss of her daughter.

While the exact cause of the altercation remains unclear, conflicting accounts were provided by Jada’s family and the other girl involved. Jada’s aunt, De’Quala McClendon, asserted that the girls were not acquainted before the fight, which reportedly began at the school premises and escalated onto the bus.

The family is seeking justice for Jada, with De’Quala urging for an end to such incidents and vowing to keep Jada’s memory alive. Video footage shared by the aunt depicted moments from the altercation, where Jada expressed unfamiliarity with her counterpart. Witnesses in the footage can be heard commenting on the escalating tension between the girls before the physical altercation ensued.

An ongoing investigation by the Villa Rica Police Department is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
