A 16-year-old boy has been taken into custody following an incident where a teenage girl was stabbed at a secondary school in Thorpe St Andrew, near Norwich. The police responded to the incident at Thorpe St Andrew School on Laundry Lane before 10.30am. The injured girl has been hospitalized with minor wounds.

The teenager was apprehended on suspicion of causing serious harm with intent and has been transported to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for interrogation. Students at the school reported being confined inside the premises during a lockdown. Laundry Lane has been shut down by the authorities.

According to a Norfolk Police spokesperson, emergency services including fire and ambulance personnel attended the scene. The police were alerted about the stabbing incident at 10.24am. The arrested boy is being questioned in connection with the incident, which is unrelated to a hate crime incident at the same school the previous week.

Norfolk Police also received reports of a potential hate crime involving antisemitic remarks during an under-15s football match between Thorpe St Andrew School and Jews’ Free School (JFS). The Principal of Thorpe St Andrew School, Penny Bignell, condemned the antisemitic behavior, calling it unacceptable and confirming that a thorough investigation is underway.
