A young teacher, preferring anonymity, expressed uncertainty about the situation stating, “The holiday period was cut short due to the conflict, and we are now expected to be back at work soon after the break. It’s a challenging decision to make given the circumstances.” Another British teacher, who had just started working in Dubai, chose to cancel a holiday and visit family instead of risking staying in the region. She mentioned the support received from her family during the trying times.
A couple with a young child had to seek refuge in their basement near the site of a missile strike, living in their car for three days. While the mother and child managed to leave, the father remains in Dubai awaiting a flight back home. The situation has left a lasting impact on the young child who expressed concerns about returning to the basement.
Amidst the escalating tensions, British nationals are making arrangements to depart the region, facing flight delays and cancellations due to airspace restrictions and recent missile attacks. Some individuals have opted to travel long hours by car or bus through the desert to neighboring Oman.
