Tragic Winter Wonderland Employee’s Untimely Death

Published on

A tragic incident unfolded at the Winter Wonderland ice rink in Stoke, Hanley, when Kyle Samuel, aged 29, was discovered on November 11. Samuel, a resident and employee at the venue, was found in distress and rushed to Royal Stoke University Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Reports from Stoke-on-Trent Live revealed that Samuel was scheduled to appear in court on charges related to inappropriate images of minors on the same day.

During the subsequent inquest, Coroner Daniel Howe determined that Samuel’s death was a result of hanging-induced hypoxia. Howe mentioned Samuel’s history of depression and previous discussions about self-harm. The looming court proceedings seemed to have been the tipping point for Samuel. Evidence suggested that Samuel had reached out to loved ones the night before his demise, indicating his intent to take his own life due to the stress caused by the upcoming legal matters.

In a poignant statement, Samuel’s mother shared that he seemed cheerful during their last conversation, planning to visit her the following day. However, she later discovered that Samuel had also tried to contact his grandmother and friends that night, leading her to believe he had made the decision to end his life. She described Samuel as a dedicated circus performer, passionate about his career but adept at hiding his inner struggles from others.

Samuel’s mother fondly remembered him as a loving, caring, and gentle person, expressing deep sorrow at his untimely passing. She emphasized the profound impact he had on those who knew and loved him, highlighting the void his absence would leave.
