GB News presenter Camilla Tominey interrupted her regular show this morning to share breaking news about Prince William. She paused the broadcast to announce that the Prince of Wales had shared a never-before-seen photo of his late mother, Princess Diana, from 1984, in honor of Mother’s Day. The touching message with the picture of a two-year-old William and Diana read, “Thinking of all those who are remembering someone they love today.”
Camilla updated viewers, stating, “Breaking news, Prince William has posted a previously unseen photograph of himself and his mother, Princess Diana, to celebrate Mothering Sunday. The caption reads, ‘Thinking of my mother today and every day. Thinking of all those who are remembering someone they love today. Happy Mother’s Day. W.'”
She continued, “This year marks his mother’s 65th birthday. The image captures a young Prince William in a field of flowers at Highgrove in 1985. And with that, I extend warm Mother’s Day wishes to all mothers – I eagerly anticipate returning home, where I trust my dear children have taken care of chores for me.”
Diana tragically passed away at 36 in a car accident in Paris in 1997, causing global mourning. The Express reports that her sons, William and Prince Harry, were only 15 and 12 at the time of her death.
Both William and Harry have expressed their love for their mother over the years. William shares stories about Diana with his children, George, Charlotte, and Louis, and carries on her charitable work, especially with homeless causes.
In the documentary “Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy” in 2017, William discussed ensuring his children understand their grandmother. He talks to his kids about “Granny Diana” at bedtime, as Kate did not know Diana, aiming to keep her memory alive for his children.
The Royal Family’s official account also paid tribute on Mother’s Day with black and white photos of Queen Elizabeth II, saying, “Wishing Mothers everywhere, and those who might be missing their Mums today, a restful Mothering Sunday.”
