A man convicted of killing his girlfriend and concealing her body in a refrigerator has been sentenced to 17 years in prison. Christopher Blevins, 46, admitted to strangling Laura Hughes, 50, and placing her remains in a fridge before disposing of it in a forest. The victim’s body, wrapped in a sleeping bag and secured with straps, was discovered following surveillance footage showing Blevins transporting what seemed to be a refrigerator around the time of the crime.

In a surprising turn of events, Blevins, hailing from New Jersey, expressed remorse through his attorney, stating that he did not intend for the tragedy to occur. He apologized for the pain he caused and admitted his lack of understanding regarding the incident. These words offer little solace to Hughes’ grieving family, especially her two children left behind.

During the sentencing, Cornel Alston, the father of Hughes’ children, delivered a poignant speech condemning the killer, emphasizing that no amount of time served could bring back their loved one.
