The 2026 Oscars saw the celebration of outstanding films with the announcement of winners. Amy Madigan took home her first Oscar, winning the Best Supporting Actress Award for her role in Weapons. The 75-year-old star expressed gratitude to her fellow nominees and her husband, Ed Harris, who has been nominated for an Oscar four times.

KPop Demon Hunters claimed the Best Animated Film award, adding to its list of nominations. Meanwhile, the standout of the evening was Sinners, a horror film starring Michael B. Jordan in dual roles. The movie received a record-breaking 16 nominations, surpassing previous record holders La La Land, Titanic, and All About Eve.

Expectations are high for One Battle After Another, a strong contender for Best Picture, with director Paul Thomas Anderson also favored for the Best Director Award. Jessie Buckley, who has been sweeping awards leading up to the Oscars, is in the running for Best Actress for her performance in Hamnet.

Despite being a frontrunner for Best Actor, Timothee Chalamet’s chances have dwindled after controversial remarks he made regarding opera and ballet. The online backlash may have impacted his chances of winning the award.

The Oscars showcased a variety of categories, including Best Supporting Actor, Best Original Screenplay, Best Cinematography, and many more. The event highlighted exceptional talent and creativity in the film industry.
