“Diane Warren’s Oscars Losing Streak Continues”

Published on

Diane Warren’s Oscars losing streak continues as she was once again unsuccessful in winning the prestigious award this year. Despite her 17th nomination for Best Original Song with “Dear Me,” performed by Kesha in the documentary “Diane Warren: Relentless,” she left the ceremony without a trophy.

The talented 69-year-old, known for hit songs like Paloma Faith’s “Only Love Can Hurt Like This” and Taylor Swift’s “Say Don’t Go,” now holds the title for the most-nominated individual without a win, surpassing Greg P. Russell. This time, she lost to the team behind “Golden” from K-Pop Demon Hunters.

Diane, who received an honorary Oscar in the past, expressed her competitive nature but remained grateful for the recognition. Despite her disappointment, she humorously mentioned her honorary Oscar wanting a companion and highlighted her desire to win the competitive award.

Following her loss, Diane shared her consistency in not securing a win yet, expressing her intention to strive for success in the future. Despite the setback, she received overwhelming support from fellow artists and fans, acknowledging her remarkable contributions to the music industry.

The decision to exclude her song performance at the Oscars added to Diane’s frustration, as she believed it would have been a memorable moment. The ceremony only featured two nominated songs, “Golden” and “I Lied To You” from Sinners, with the former making history as the first K-Pop hit to win in the category.

K-Pop Demon Hunters, a popular animated musical film, received accolades for its success, becoming Netflix’s most-watched film with a chart-topping soundtrack. The emotional acceptance speech from EJAE, a member of the winning team, emphasized the significance of resilience and unity in their musical achievement.

This year’s Oscar ceremony showcased the global appeal of music, with diverse audiences embracing Korean lyrics and uplifting melodies. Diane Warren’s inspiring journey and dedication to her craft continue to resonate with fans worldwide, solidifying her legacy in the music industry.
