A British individual was found deceased in a canal on a popular vacation spot. Surveillance footage captured the businessman pacing in front of a hotel before his body was located in a drainage ditch in Phuket, Thailand, as per local law enforcement.

The discovery was made by a Burmese worker near Bang Tao Beach on the island’s northwest coast, who promptly informed the authorities. The British man, barefoot and dressed in a grey shirt and black trousers, had started to bloat due to prolonged submersion, with no evident signs of physical harm upon initial inspection.

Lieutenant Colonel Sutthirak Chuthong of the Choeng Thale district police station confirmed the deceased’s British nationality and stated that the hotel where the man had been accommodated was unsuccessful in reaching him. No forced entry or unusual occurrences were found in the room during a search.

Lieutenant Colonel Thongchai Matitham reported that the body was discovered face down in a public drainage canal by a Myanmar worker harvesting vegetables on March 14th. An iPhone 17 was found nearby on the bank, untouched by water, with no other valuables present. A key card for the CoCo Hotel was found in the man’s possession, aiding in his identification.

Hotel records indicated that the man had checked in solo and was scheduled to check out on March 13, but had not done so. CCTV footage displayed the man displaying restlessness and pacing in front of the hotel before departing the vicinity, eventually leading to the discovery of his body.

Authorities believe the man had been deceased for a maximum of two days before being found, pending the official autopsy results from Vachira Phuket Hospital to determine the presence of any substances in his system. The investigation remains ongoing, with CCTV footage related to the incident withheld at this time.
