Three men are accused of sexually assaulting a woman on Brighton beach, with one of them allegedly filming the incident, as detailed in the trial at Hove Crown Court. The defendants, Karin Al-Danasurt, Ibrahim Alshafe, and Abdulla Ahmadi, are said to have targeted the woman after she became separated from her friends during a night out on October 4 last year.
According to prosecutor Hanna Llewellyn-Waters, the victim was intoxicated and vulnerable when the assaults took place. The defendants allegedly took advantage of her condition for their own gratification. The court was told that the defendants approached the victim when she was alone and vulnerable, showing no concern for her well-being.
Alshafe and Ahmadi are accused of repeatedly raping the woman behind a beach shack, while Al-Danasurt is alleged to have been present and filmed the assaults. The prosecution claims that Al-Danasurt’s actions encouraged the other defendants to commit the rapes. The court heard that the victim recalled being subjected to physical abuse and taunting during the assaults.
The defendants, who were residents at the Cisswood House Hotel in Horsham at the time, have denied the charges against them. Ahmadi and Alshafe face two counts of rape, while Al-Danasurt is charged with four counts of rape as a secondary party. The trial is ongoing, with the prosecution presenting evidence, including footage from Al-Danasurt’s phone.
