A former CIA operative has suggested that in the event of a devastating nuclear conflict, two regions of the world may remain untouched, with Europe not being one of them.

Nuclear war concerns have been on the rise, reminiscent of the 1980s Cold War era. Recent aerial attacks by the USA and Israel on Iran have heightened global tensions.

Ex-CIA agent Andrew Bustamante stated that certain parts of the world could potentially be spared due to the distribution of nuclear capabilities among nine countries including the USA, Russia, China, the UK, France, North Korea, India, Pakistan, and Israel.

During an interview on Steven Bartlett’s Diary of a CEO podcast, the former intelligence officer highlighted that regions like South America and Africa might avoid direct nuclear conflict while Europe could face repercussions based on wind patterns.

Andrew further mentioned that south-east Asia and Australia might also be relatively safe regions, depending on the actions of Pakistan and India with their nuclear arsenals.

Despite escalating tensions between the USA and Iran, the ex-CIA operative expressed more concern about the aftermath of nuclear detonations rather than the initial nuclear strikes. This view was challenged by national security journalist Annie Jacobsen, who emphasized the potential global impact of nuclear fires causing a “nuclear winter.”

Andrew concluded with a grim assessment, based on his training, advising that if faced with a nuclear explosion, it would be preferable to take immediate action rather than endure the aftermath.
