British Airways Cancels Dubai Flights amid Middle East Tensions

Published on

British Airways has made the decision to cancel all flights to Dubai until June due to ongoing attacks by Iran on the UAE. The airline has also announced the cancellation of flights to Amman, Bahrain, Dubai, and Tel Aviv until May 31, with flights to Doha cancelled until April 30. According to a spokesperson from British Airways, these cancellations are a result of the current uncertainty in the Middle East and the instability of airspace, aiming to provide clarity to their customers.

Dubai International Airport, known as the world’s busiest airport for international passengers in 2025, served close to 90 million travelers. December 2025 marked a record-breaking month with approximately 8.7 million passengers passing through the airport, as reported by The Express. The airport serves as a gateway to 291 destinations across 110 countries.

The UK Foreign Office has issued travel advisories cautioning against non-essential travel to the UAE and other Gulf states due to regional tensions. Travelers already in the UAE are advised to follow local authorities’ instructions, register with the UK government, and stay prepared for sudden security changes.

Despite Dubai being on the UK Foreign Office’s restricted travel list, some travelers are still opting to visit the city, as mentioned by travel journalist Simon Calder on BBC Radio Scotland’s Breakfast program.
