A family is reeling from shock as a soon-to-be groom fell into a coma while celebrating his stag party overseas. Adam Maxwell was partaking in pre-wedding festivities in Bucharest, Romania, when he suddenly fell ill and was swiftly taken to the hospital. Initially feeling unwell on Sunday, just two days after arriving, Adam’s condition rapidly deteriorated, with symptoms including slurred speech and vomiting.
Following a frantic call for help, Adam was promptly transported to a local medical facility, where he was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, a condition previously unknown to him. Medical scans revealed critical issues, including a lack of insulin in his body and dangerously high blood sugar levels, leading to concerns of potential organ failure.
Adam was admitted to a high-dependency ward, receiving urgent care and continuous monitoring. However, a dire turn of events occurred when his heart stopped for a prolonged period, necessitating intensive medical intervention. Subsequently, he was transferred to a different hospital’s critical care unit and placed in a medically induced coma to stabilize his condition.
Currently, Adam, a 35-year-old resident of Coventry, originally from Manchester, remains in Romania under close medical supervision. His family shared that he is awaiting further tests, receiving treatment for pneumonia, and supported by his brother. The family is deeply distressed by the situation, with uncertainty surrounding the timeline for Adam’s recovery and the impending wedding scheduled for September.
In response to the escalating expenses and the need for familial support in Romania, a fundraising initiative has been launched to assist Scott and cover the associated costs. The family expressed gratitude for any donations and emphasized the importance of standing by Adam during this challenging time. For those willing to contribute, the GoFundMe page is accessible for donations.
