A violent man viciously assaulted an elderly woman he had connected with on a dating app, resulting in her tragic death. The 85-year-old woman, seeking companionship, engaged with Vyacheslav Kulakov, 33, on a dating platform, but their in-person meeting took a dark turn. After an initial intimate encounter, a dispute arose, leading to Vyacheslav attacking the woman before fleeing. Despite making it to the hospital and alerting medical staff about the assault, the woman, based in Tula, Russia, later succumbed to her injuries. Vyacheslav, upon learning of her death during police questioning, expressed remorse and admitted to his actions. He now faces charges of causing fatal harm through negligence, potentially facing up to 15 years in prison.

This unfortunate incident is not an isolated case of tragedy on a first date. In a previous report by the Daily Star, a woman lost her life after meeting a man online who buried her alive. Mina El Houari, a 25-year-old from Cadenet, France, believed she had found her perfect match and traveled to Morocco to meet him after weeks of online communication. Their meeting took a dark turn when Mina collapsed, leading the man to mistakenly believe she had died. In a panicked state, he buried her in his backyard, unaware that she was still alive. Mina, who had undiagnosed diabetes, fell into a coma and suffocated in the makeshift grave. The man, charged with involuntary manslaughter, initially kept silent about the incident until her family’s concerns prompted authorities to investigate and uncover the tragic truth.

According to reports from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and UN Women 2025, approximately 50,000 women and girls globally fall victim to intimate partner or family member violence each year, translating to an average of 137 female deaths daily at the hands of those closest to them.
