Iran Targets Gulf Sites: Qatar Gas Facility Hit, Explosions in Riyadh

Published on

Iranian missiles have targeted multiple locations in Gulf countries. Qatar has confirmed that its civil defense is currently addressing a fire at the Ras Laffan gas facility, while explosions have been observed at various sites in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. These incidents occurred shortly after Iran issued a warning of striking energy infrastructure across the Middle East in response to an Israeli attack on its South Pars gas field.

Majed Al Ansari, the spokesperson for Qatar’s Foreign Ministry, criticized the Israeli assault as “reckless and irresponsible.” Qatar’s state-owned petroleum company reported that Ras Laffan, a significant oil-processing facility approximately 50 miles north of Doha, was hit by missiles causing substantial damage. Emergency response teams were promptly dispatched to manage the resulting fires.

In Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, multiple locations were also impacted following Iran’s threat to target energy facilities in retaliation for the Israeli strike earlier on Wednesday. South Pars, situated in the Persian Gulf, is a part of the largest natural gas field globally, shared between Iran and Qatar.
