Beloved Actor Tom Georgeson Dies at 88

Tributes are pouring in for an actor who was widely recognized across generations. Tom Georgeson, known for his roles in popular productions such as Boys from the Blackstuff, Between the Lines, and the iconic movie A Fish Called Wanda alongside John Cleese and Michael Palin, has passed away at the age of 88.

Hailing from Liverpool, Tom was a familiar face on British television, having appeared in a variety of well-known shows, including Z Cars, Holby City, The Bill, Doctor Who, Poirot, Ashes To Ashes, and Foyle’s War. Additionally, he starred in the Alan Bleasdale drama GBH and portrayed Clamb in the BBC’s 2005 adaptation of Bleak House.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Tom’s nephew, Danny Conway, expressed his shock at the news of Tom’s passing, mentioning their family’s strong artistic background. He highlighted how their grandfather’s involvement in amateur dramatics influenced Tom’s career, along with their relative Greg, who was also involved in the arts.

The Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse Theatres mourned Tom’s loss, praising his significant contributions to the local arts scene. They fondly recalled his performances in various productions over the years, showcasing his talent and charm on stage.

Tom, who resided in London at the time of his death, is survived by his wife Prim and children Richard and Roslyn.
