Christine McGuinness has expressed her reluctance to enter into marriage again while giving an update on her current romantic relationship. Formerly married to Paddy McGuinness, the model and TV personality shared that she and Paddy divorced in 2024 after splitting in 2022.
During a recent episode of her podcast “Situationships” with Sophie and Christine, co-hosted with author Sophie Gravia, Christine revealed her stance on remarriage, stating that she does not envision herself tying the knot again. She emphasized that her previous marriage was a learning experience and not a negative one, but she feels content having been through it already.
Reflecting on her 11-year marriage to Paddy, Christine acknowledged the emotional toll of their divorce and expressed her desire to avoid going through a similar experience in the future. She highlighted her preference for freedom and not wanting the constraints that legal marriage documents impose after a relationship ends.
While Christine clarified her stance on traditional marriage, she mentioned her openness to celebratory events like weddings. She expressed support for same-sex marriages and the celebration of love, indicating that she would be open to a ceremonial commitment like a “big gay blessing” and the term “wife.”
Additionally, Christine disclosed her current romantic involvement with a woman and their discussions about children. She emphasized her decision not to have more children, as she already has three, and communicated this clearly to her partner to ensure mutual understanding.
Christine also shared her thoughts on the complexities of relationships, particularly highlighting her concerns about developing unhealthy bonds based on shared trauma. She stressed the importance of open communication and setting clear expectations in relationships to avoid misunderstandings.
Listeners can look forward to the full podcast episode airing on BBC Sounds on Friday, March 20th at 5 pm.
