A former member of the British entertainment group Dreamboys has been accused of killing his partner at their residence in France. George Goodayle, aged 47, surrendered to authorities following an incident where Jayne Gregory, aged 49, was fatally shot with a hunting rifle. French officials stated that Goodayle admitted to the shooting the day after it occurred, claiming it was accidental.
Police discovered Gregory’s body with two gunshot wounds at their home in Brillac, located in the southwestern region of France. They confiscated a firearm believed to be the weapon used in the incident. Goodayle was taken into police custody on charges related to the death of his partner.
A magistrate and a forensic doctor from the Angoulême public prosecutor’s office visited the scene. Goodayle appeared before a judge and was formally indicted for spousal murder, subsequently placed in pre-trial detention.
The couple, both in their forties, had been in a relationship since June and had recently traveled together to the Pyrenees. According to a friend of Jayne from Doncaster, South Yorkshire, she relocated to France at the end of 2020 or early 2021 to make a fresh start away from England.
Described as a vibrant individual, Jayne was known for her love of animals, particularly horses and dogs. She led a lavish lifestyle and was well-liked by many. Friends recalled her outgoing nature and mentioned her active social circle in France.
Angoulême prosecutor Benoît Bernard provided details of the incident, confirming that Goodayle, a British national residing in Brillac since 2016, confessed to shooting his partner with a shotgun. The suspect suggested the shooting may have been accidental during police interrogations.
In a social media post from March 2011, Goodayle identified himself as “gorgeous George” from the Dreamboys strip show. Jayne had shared a heartfelt birthday message to Goodayle in October, referencing his past with the Dreamboys.
