The latest season of the reality TV dating program The Bachelorette has been axed due to allegations of domestic violence involving one of its participants. TMZ released a video showing Taylor Frankie Paul allegedly attacking her former partner, Dakota Mortensen.

Taylor was set to lead the upcoming season of the show, a spin-off of The Bachelor where a woman selects a life partner from a pool of suitors. The decision to cancel the show was made by ABC, owned by Disney, despite the season already being filmed and set to air soon.

ABC stated, “Following the emergence of the recent video, we have chosen not to proceed with the new season of ‘The Bachelorette’ at this time, focusing instead on providing support to the family.”

A video from 2023 surfaced showing Taylor involved in an altercation with Dakota, resulting in her arrest for assault, criminal mischief, and domestic violence in the presence of a child. Dakota can be heard in the video labeling the incident as physical abuse.

A representative for Paul responded to the video, expressing disappointment in the attempt to harm Taylor’s reputation without regard for their child. The statement also highlighted a history of manipulative behavior.

Paul confirmed a pause in production for the next season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, a show in which she stars, due to the ongoing situation. Co-star Mikayla Matthews mentioned the discomfort felt by the cast in continuing filming.

Paul gained fame through social media, particularly for creating content with other young mothers from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Utah.

Reports indicate that Mortensen has filed for a protective order against Paul in the Salt Lake County District Court, although the filing requires corrections before proceeding.
