Davina McCall, the host of Comic Relief, has shared her intention to prioritize self-care following two health scares. The 58-year-old presenter will be back on our screens tonight leading the fundraising event alongside Katherine Ryan, Nick Mohammed, Joel Dommett, and Catherine Tate, known for her role as Nan from The Catherine Tate Show.
Having recently taken a step back from full-time work to reduce stress, Davina disclosed her health challenges. In 2024, she was diagnosed with a rare 14mm colloid cyst in her brain, discovered during a routine health check related to her menopause advocacy work. Following surgery and a period in intensive care, she faced memory issues and feelings of loss of control.
Nearly a year after her brain tumor surgery, Davina revealed that she underwent surgery for an early-stage breast cancer tumor, which she disclosed on Instagram in November 2025. The Masked Singer star detected a lump in her breast through self-examination and sought medical attention promptly, expressing relief at the early detection and successful removal.
In a podcast appearance, Davina reflected on her past struggles with addiction and the transformative moments in her life. She emphasized the importance of embracing change and reducing stress, especially after facing health challenges. Planning to shift to a four-day work week, she highlighted the significance of self-care as her current focus, recognizing that being well is essential for caring for others.
Comic Relief will be broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Friday, March 20, starting at 7 pm.
